Is anyone watching? I figured skinnylb would be watching and start a topic on this. We already know the winner - Justin, the one with the Sideshow Bob hair. Paula is swooning over that guy and he does have a great voice. But so did Sam Harris on Star Search. The last time I saw him was when he asked if I "wanted fries with that."

The executives at the WB were asked why American Idol is so popular but Pop Stars wasn't. They said 'American Idol' is meaner and the American people are drawn to that kind of thing. I agree. Without Simon, this show doesn't finish in the top 100. I'm sure next season there will be efforts to make it even more mean - that is, if mean = ratings.

I agree. Without Simon there is no show. Paula isn't even a good foil for him. She's a waste.

I can't wait for the CD from whoever is the American Idol. I can imagine it will be bigger than anything the Beatles ever did. I'm sure the American Idol will be here to stay and have a very long career.

That Justin kid really killed his chances last night. He's getting cocky which makes me think he may already have a deal in place in case he doesn't win this competition. When he said that thing to Simon about 'who cares what you think when the audience loves me...' (paraphrase) it just made my skin crawl. I don't who will be voted off tonight, hopefully that werewolf looking kid who can't really sing.

Thank God that stupid wolf boy is gone. I hated that guy. Ryan is white trash in the worst sense of the word, but at least she's better than that freaky wolf boy.

I think Justin will be just fine, no matter what comments he makes. He's got a long career ahead of him.

I can't remember the names, but I want that Whitney Huston-type girl to win. She's got the most star quality.

I think Tamrya will win. Kelly is also very talented and will probably have a career. I think Justin gets worse every week and hopefully he will be a Sam Harris flash in the pan.

These stupid little group sing alongs at the beginnings of the show reminds me very much like it's a Very Brady Special. Really disgusting.

Georgia native R.J. Helton was the latest wannabe pop star to get tossed from Fox's hit talent show "American Idol," cutting the talent pool down to just four contestants: Tamyra Gray, Justin Guarini, Kelly Clarkson and Nikki McKibbin.

More than 14.5 million viewers voted this week, Fox said - and Helton was booted because of the five competitors left going into last night's show, he got the lowest vote total.

Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman broke the bad news to Helton on the live, half-hour program.

"I want to thank all of you who voted for me, supported me and prayed for me," a weepy-eyed Helton said. "I really appreciated it."

"American Idol" is the hot summer reality/talent show based on last year's U.K. hit, "Pop Idol." The show, a cross between "Survivor" and "Star Search," launched the singing career of U.K. winner William Young, and helped land record deals for a few of its other contestants.

The winner of the U.S. edition will be announced Sept. 4 and take home a big record-label recording contract.

Since the show began last June, its combined total audience has averaged about 10.3 million viewers each week, Tuesday night's program averaged about 12.7 million - the show's biggest draw to date.
