The former Friends star will make a guest appearance in an upcoming episode of the comedy show, which stars Baldwin and Tina Fey.

Gossip Girls To Appear On 30 Rock

Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester have reportedly signed a deal to guest-star on U.S. TV show 30 Rock.

The actresses, who play spoiled students in their hit TV series, will feature in a Gossip Girl-inspired flashback sequence on 30 Rock during main character Liz Lemon's 20-year high school reunion, according to Ew.com.

But fans of the programme will be in for a shock as the sequence will reveal geeky Lemon, who is played by the sitcom's creator Tina Fey, was actually a bullying teenager.

Earl Creator Hits Back At 'Narcissist' Baldwin

The creator of hit comedy My Name Is Earl has hit back at Alec Baldwin after the actor accused TV bosses of favouring the show over his own series 30 Rock.

Baldwin recently launched a scathing attack on NBC - criticising TV chiefs for giving extra help to shows including Scrubs and My Name Is Earl, at the expense of his own TV comedy.

He said, "NBC hasn't done a thing to help this show (30 Rock). They've gone out of their way to wring the last drops out of My Name Is Earl and Scrubs. Those shows are done! They're cooked! Yet they do a one-hour episode of Earl."

And the star's comments have infuriated My Name Is Earl creator Greg Garcia - who has fired back, labelling Baldwin "unlikable" and "distasteful".

He also refers to Baldwin's 2007 scandal over a leaked phone message to his 11-year-old daughter Ireland - in which he called the youngster a "thoughtless little pig" - insisting the incident may have effected 30 Rock's ratings.

He tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "(Baldwin) sounds like a psychotic narcissist. Instead of blaming NBC, I think Alec should consider that some people in America may not want to watch a man who cusses out his own 11-year-old daughter on a phone message.

"Oh, and the reason NBC occasionally puts on an hour long episode of Earl is because an hour of Earl gets better ratings than an Earl followed by a 30 Rock. It's called math, stupid."

Baldwin Says Sorry For TV Shows Slur

8 September 2008 5:10 AM, PDT

Latest: Actor Alec Baldwin has apologised for attacking hit shows My Name Is Earl and Scrubs in a row over TV schedules.

The Pearl Harbor star recently blasted bosses of TV network NBC for their promotion of his series 30 Rock, and claimed they were determined to "wring the last drops" out of other shows.

He insisted My Name Is Earl and Scrubs were "done" and "cooked" - and that 30 Rock should have been promoted more heavily instead.

But he has now apologised for the comments, according to celebrity blog PerezHilton.com.

Baldwin says, "My apologies to the cast and crews of My Name Is Earl and Scrubs. In my frustration with NBC's reprehensible promotion of 30 Rock, I took an unfortunate swipe at both of those shows and that was not cool."

But he could not resist a dig at My Name Is Earl creator Greg Garcia, who has previously criticised the actor over the notorious phone message to his 12-year-old daughter Ireland in which he called her a "thoughtless little pig".

Baldwin added: "But, for Earl's creator, Greg Garcia, who referred to me as a 'psychotic', I have only one question: Why are you Scientologists always rendering these medical opinions you aren't qualified to give?"

9 September 2008 5:19 AM, PDT

Latest: Oprah Winfrey will be starring in an upcoming episode of hit U.S. comedy 30 Rock.

The media titan was earlier this month rumoured to be making a guest appearance on the show.

And Alec Baldwin, who stars in the Tina Fey comedy, has confirmed that the chat show queen will feature in the new series, adding to the starry line-up.

He tells Usmagazine.com, "Yes, Jennifer Aniston and Oprah (will be on the show). What more do you want? We're only on episode four!"

Fey's Emmy Luck Disappears After Purse Loss

Tina Fey's luck at 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday didn't last very long - she lost her purse after rushing on-stage to collect her three gongs.

The U.S. funnywoman beamed after winning Outstanding Lead Actress for her turn in 30 Rock, the show she created, which also won Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy series at the event in Los Angeles.

But as Fey went backstage to speak to reporters, she realised she had forgotten her bag in the excitement.

She told the press, "If anyone's seen my purse. I left it under my seat."

And the modest actress refused to take all the credit for her hit TV creation - insisting it is her co-stars, especially Alec Baldwin, who make the show a success.

She added, "I think our cast is diverse and talented. We've had the greatest guest stars. Alec elevates the show to another level with his abilities."

Fey Signs Book Deal

30 Rock creator Tina Fey has signed an exclusive book deal - after her recent Emmy triumph sparked a bidding war between the world's leading publishers.

The comedienne swept the board at the Primetime Emmy Awards last month, picking up gongs for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress.

Publishers soon realised the prospects of having Fey on their roster, with offers reportedly reaching a staggering $6 million (GBP3.24 million) for her first tome.

And Fey has signed with publisher the Little, Brown Book Group, in a deal that is rumoured to be worth $5 million (GBP2.8 million).

According to New York gossip column PageSix, the book will not be Fey's memoir, but will be "non-fiction humour" to fit in with the star's performance style on America's Saturday Night Live.

It’s Easy to Find Tina Fey on TV, but Not Her Show
By BILL CARTER

With her three Emmy Awards, her ubiquitous American Express commercials, and especially her must-see Sarah Palin impersonations, Tina Fey is not just the hottest star on NBC; she is about the hottest star in show business at the moment.

So where is “30 Rock?” The hugely praised but ratings-challenged comedy has yet to return to NBC even as interest in its creator and star, Ms. Fey, has exploded. Several executives inside NBC asked last week why NBC’s entertainment division was waiting until Oct. 30 to get “30 Rock” back on the air.

Ben Silverman, the co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, said, “If we knew then what we know today about how hot Tina was going to be, would we do it differently? Maybe,” he said.

The problem, Mr. Silverman said, was that NBC had committed early to several program moves that were intended to give “30 Rock” the best possible chance to emerge finally as a hit.

One of those moves was scheduling three special editions of Ms. Fey’s old show, “Saturday Night Live,” at 9:30 on Thursdays leading up to the election.

That’s where “30 Rock” will eventually land, and Mr. Silverman said the network wanted to build up to that premiere with a promotion campaign that highlighted the roster of guest stars the show has lined up, including Oprah Winfrey, Steve Martin, Jennifer Aniston and Salma Hayek.

But several of those “30 Rock” episodes are completed and could have been broadcast this week in the thick of the Fey-Palin fascination. Mr. Silverman said NBC could possibly have substituted “30 Rock” for the new comedy “Kath and Kim” at 8:30, delaying the premiere of that series, but that move would have undone the overall strategy.

“We want to make sure ‘30 Rock’ goes on at 9:30, where it can benefit from the lead-in from ‘The Office,’ ” he said.

Last week’s first “SNL” special, which, in another surprise, did not include another Palin impersonation from Ms. Fey, was a big hit, attracting almost 11 million viewers.

Last season, “30 Rock” averaged only 6.5 million viewers. Mr. Silverman said that while NBC would not be getting “30 Rock” on for three more weeks, “we’re getting Tina Fey on.”

He said she would surely be on the next two “SNL” specials “heavily promoting ‘30 Rock.’ ” BILL CARTER

30 Rock Rocks -- But For How Long?

31 October 2008 2:32 AM, PDT

All of the publicity concerning Tina Fey's Saturday Night Live impersonation of Sarah Palin helped boost the ratings for the season premiere of Fey's 30 Rock Thursday night. Nevertheless, the show remained in third place in its time period with 8.53 million viewers. Marc Berman, who tracks broadcast ratings for MediaWeek commented on his "Programming Insider" blog, "This is not, and it never will be, a hit show. Once the dust settles from the election next week, so will any momentum for 30 Rock."

Childhood Knife Attack Left Funny Fey With A Scarred Face

U.S. comedienne Tina Fey's famous facial scar was the result of a childhood knife attack, according to her husband.

The Emmy Award-winning 30 Rock and Mean Girls writer/star rarely talks about the incident, but her husband, Jeff Richmond, reveals all in a new Vanity Fair interview.

He tells the publication, "She just thought somebody marked her with a pen."

Richmond explains his wife was five at the time, adding he thinks the scar by her left cheek is one of the most beautiful things about his wife: "That scar was fascinating to me. This is somebody who, no matter what it was, has gone through something. And I think it really informs the way she thinks about her life."

Asked to comment further on the knife attack, Fey tells the publication, "It's impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it."

Morgan Fire Wrecked His Co-Star's Home

19 February 2009 8:10 AM, PST

The sprinklers set off by Tracy Morgan's apartment fire flooded the home of his neighbour and 30 Rock co-star Sherri Shepherd.

Firefighters were called to Morgan's pad on New York's Upper West Side on Wednesday morning after a bulb in the comedian's fish tank blew.

They were able to extinguish the flames and even rescue Morgan's fish - but not before the building's sprinkler system switched on, flooding the homes of those living below Morgan, including Shepherd, who plays his wife in the Golden Globe-winning show.

The comedienne was shooting U.S. talk show The View, which she co-presents, when her son called to tell her water was seeping through their ceiling - and her first concern was her huge collection of wigs.

She tells the New York Post, "I said, 'Baby get all my hair. Baby, I can't live without my hair.' My apartment is all flooded."

But she promises to forgive Morgan - as long as he pays for the damage. She adds, "I love my husband - he's my TV husband. And if any of my clothes got messed up, I'm sure Tracy will pay for them."

Fey's Toddler Credited With 30 Rock Success

15 May 2009 12:20 PM, PDT

Actress/comedienne Tina Fey has enlisted her three-year-old daughter to help write her Emmy-winning U.S. TV show 30 Rock.

The series - starring creator Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski - won top prizes including the Outstanding Comedy Series award at last year's ceremony.

And her co-star Krakowski has revealed the secret weapon to Fey's award-winning dialogue - the star's toddler, Alice.

Krakowski tells the New York Daily News, "Some of the great catchphrases of 30 Rock have come from Alice. Like, 'I want to go there!' - that's Alice. It's so funny because I hear people say it on the street, and that was (Tina's) daughter!

"There are other things that Alice came up with as well, like 'normal sauce' and 'crazy putty'. These words are 30 Rock vocabulary. They're hilarious - and they're all Alice!"

30 Rock Lands 22 Primetime Emmy Nods

16 July 2009 9:11 AM, PDT

Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey's hit comedy 30 Rock is leading the charge for the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards after landing a whopping 22 nominations.

The show will defend its title as Outstanding TV Comedy for the third year running, against Entourage, Weeds, Flight of the Conchords, the U.S. version of The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and Family Guy. The animated series' inclusion is the first time a cartoon has been shortlisted for the prize since The Flintstones in 1961.

30 Rock's leading stars will do battle in the male and female categories for the outstanding comedy actor awards. Hollywood star Baldwin is up against the likes of Steve Carell (The Office), Charlie Sheen (Two And A Half Men) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), while Fey is competing with Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program), and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds).

Meanwhile, Mad Men has scored 16 nods - including Outstanding Drama Series, which it won last year, Outstanding Lead Actor, Drama for Jon Hamm, and Outstanding Lead Actress, Drama for Elisabeth Moss.

Hamm is nominated alongside actors such as Dexter's Michael C. Hall, Simon Baker for The Mentalist, and Hugh Laurie for medical series House; and Moss will face stiff competition from Glenn Close (Damages), Sally Field (Brothers & Sisters) and Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), among others in her category.

House and legal thriller Damages are also in the running for Outstanding Drama Series.

In the TV movie categories, Drew Barrymore's Grey Gardens - in which the actress plays Jackie Kennedy-Onassis' reclusive cousin 'Little' Edie Beale - garnered 17 nominations, with the star receiving recognition for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. The HBO film is also up for the prizes of Outstanding Casting and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie Or A Special for moviemaker Michael Sucsy, in addition to a number of technical awards.

And there was praise for actress Chandra Wilson, who announced the nominees on Thursday morning with Jim Parson. She was named alongside Barrymore in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie category for her role in Accidental Friendship, while her turn in Grey's Anatomy earned her a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out on 20 September at a ceremony in Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre and will be presented by Neil Patrick Harris.

The main list of nominees is as follows:

Outstanding Comedy Series: Entourage, Family Guy, Flight of the Conchords, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, 30 Rock, Weeds.

Outstanding Lead Actor, Comedy - Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), Tony Shalhoub (Monk), Steve Carell (The Office), Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Charlie Sheen (Two And A Half Men), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory)
