From our friends at TheWrap.comThe Sexy 'Vampire Diaries' Ad Campaign The CW is readying another provocative ad campaign for one of its shows. The network -- which set tongues wagging with its sultry "Gossip Girl" promos (remember "OMFG"?) -- today will unveil some seductive new one-sheet advertising aimed at hyping its new Thursday night tentpole drama, "The Vampire Diaries." The key art for the show features the three stars of the series in supersexy poses, along with the vampire-specific tagline, "Love Sucks." In addition to solo ads with the three leads, there's also a poster in which the trio are engaged in a very suggestive group pose. Here's a first look at the new campaign: http://www.thewrap.com/ind-column/exclusive-sexy-vampire-diaries-ad-campaign_4807 IP: Logged |

Ian Somerhalder talks 'Vampire Diaries' (and why we want to slap him, then kiss him)To celebrate The Vampire Diaries (Thursdays, 8 p.m. Et) scoring the biggest ratings for a series debut in the history of The CW, Ian Somerhalder, a.k.a. bad vampire brother Damon, happily answered a few questions from PopWatch readers on Tuesday while awaiting his flight from Atlanta, where the Kevin Williamson drama films, to Hawaii, where he'll be reprising his role of Boone in "several" episodes of Lost this season. Setting that scene is crucial so you can understand why Somerhalder laughed so long when we revealed the landslide results of our poll asking readers whether they would slap the actor, kiss him, or slap him, then kiss him. Entertainment Weekly: Literally, the first question submitted for you was from Jason, who asked, "When will we see Damon shirtless on the show? Kthx. Love, the gays." Ian Somerhalder: Immediately. [See: the promo for tonight's episode.] I think Damon will probably have his clothes off often. IP: Logged |

The CW Gives Three Shows Votes of ConfidenceThe CW is giving some love to new dramas "The Vampire Diaries" and "Melrose Place," while greenlighting a full season of veteran drama "One Tree Hill." Nine more scripts have been ordered for "Vampire," while six additional scripts have been purchased for "Melrose." While not the same as episodic orders, script greenlights frequently lead to more episodes being produced. "Vampire" has been a strong out of the box performer for the CW, earning the biggest ever premiere ratings for the network earlier this month. "Melrose" has been more disappointing, but the network has been very pleased with the show's creative direction and also wants to see what the addition of Heather Locklear to the cast will do. Locklear joins "Melrose" in mid-November. She's agreed to appear in at least seven episodes of the show as a special guest star. Her casting makes it almost certain the CW will greenlight at least a few more episodes of "Melrose." As for "One Tree Hill," the series has been a consistent performer for the CW on Monday nights. Its companion on the night, "Gossip Girl," already has a full season order. The CW newcomer most on the bubble is "The Beautiful Life: TBL," which opened to anemic numbers. Its numbers tonight could be key to its future, though some insiders believe it's likely the network will give the show at least three airings before making a decision. IP: Logged | |
