Hi. I just received this e-mail from my assistant and I thought I would throw it out to the group. What do you guys think about this?

"Should theater be spelled with an 're' or 'er' (theatre or theater)? I always thought that the 're' was for high class places while the rest of us spelled it 'er'."

It's only "re" when it's professional theatre. If it's high school or community - then it's theater (because they don't know what it means - so they shouldn't get the classy spelling).

Hey, MichaelMon, I'm going to take it myself with your help hopefully to really pump up the theater (er for me) discussions on these boards.

I'll be helping out as much as I can. I am the moderator of these boards, after all. We are opening a new show on Broadway and coming out with a new line of toys of the Animaltered characters. So my online time is limited. But I'll definitely help out these discussions as much as I can.

I was in New York recently and saw the revival of The Music Man and I must confess - I thought it was lame. As I watched the dance to Shapoopi, it slowly dawned on me that I paid $75 to watch a dance that isn't even as good as the 1960s movie with Robert Preston. It's gonna take young kids in their 20s to totally reshape Broadway and not in a "Rent" kind of way.

How can theater EVER hope to compete with what $100 million dollar films can offer these days? How can it EVER hope to capture the attention of an audience that's grown up with the fast cutting of music videos, etc?

I know I'm sounding like an old man - really just wondering aloud, not being a prophet of doom.

Have you ever seen a baby or kitten play with a piece of string or the wrapping paper at Christmas after receiving an expensive gift? Theater is the safe thing. $100 million dollar movies come and go but the interaction between actor and audience cannot be duplicated at the movies. And that's why theater will always be around.

I don't think theater will always be around. Especially small theater. Like small film, it will go by the wayside in a matter of time.

Bite your tongue, FilmGuru. Small theater will always be around, even if I have to have all the shows in my apartment, IT WILL NOT DIE!

I'm still planning shows in my apartment. I'm just looking for the right musical, then I will begin casting...
