Does anyone know why you're not supposed to eat shellfish in months that don't have an "R"? I'm really curious.

May is just around the corner, but I'm craving oysters. So, if a restaurant is selling them, can they really be that bad?

So, what's that? May, June, July and August... By the way, I've heard that before.

I know all about that shellfish thing. I was vomitting all summer last year. I ate clams in Mexico during May. I can't even think about it.

Well, I'm sorry others have had bad experiences, but I really need an answer as to WHY!

Just last night (April 29) I had oysters - they were yummy and did not make me puke. Now if I go back to the same place and order them tomorrow (May 1) am I playing with fire?

Come on, Mr. Chang, you said we could ask anything and your "researchers" would find the answer. I need serious help here!!!

The answer is yes. If you eat oysters tomorrow you are playing with fire. Your odds are better at Russian Roulette. I don't want to panic you, but my people here tell me if you eat oysters, you will die.

Kiev, you were so right. I went to the Charthouse last night (May 3) and I have been vomitting all day. My god, but the crab was so fresh I couldn't stop eating it even though I was making trips to the bathroom every five minutes.

There's a saying I heard once in Thailand, "Don't eat shellfish in May or you may not live to see June." I've always lived by that motto and I've always lived to see June.

I ate oysters last night and might eat them again tonight. No problems here. Don't listen to the dopes who say not to eat shellfish during the summer. That's what summer's all about!

In India we eat shellfish from the Ganges. do you know how dirty the ganges is. No problems here. You Americans are weak in the stomach. A little more poison in your body will help you fight off disease.

You're right about that. I get worried that one day our air will get so clean that one little germ will destroy the population.

Especially don't eat shellfish this weekend. Fishermen have to fish so much for a holiday weekend demand that alot of it isn't stored properly. Shellfish is so easily spoiled.

That's a good tip. I wasn't planning to but now I definitely won't eat shellfish.

Don't listen to anybody here. In Mexico they eat crab that has been sitting around in the heat for three days. I've never heard of anyone getting sick from eating the food in Mexico.

A note to Canadians living on the St. Lawrence River - don't eat anything out of that river - it's toxic and spoiled and you will die. By the way, that's just my opinion.

A wiser statement has not been made. All along the Gaspe Peninsula is disgusting. Chemical waste, stagnant water - don't eat the fish from the River!
