If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

If you say there is a God, you are wrong. If you say there is not a God, you are also wrong. If you say the world was created by super gnominclads with an aquamolecular structure... then you would be right.

BishopKen likes God very much. BishopKen thinks that Catholic priests should leave little boys alone. It mentions nothing in the Bible, from all I've read, that Priests should fondle little boys. It's sick. Abstinence is also a sick practice which probably causes many Priests to go crazy in a sexual way. That's my two cents.

I do agree with the abstinens thing... Same goes for nuns.. We are human.. Only God is God.. and who said that Jesus never had sex?.. seriously.. does it state in the bible anywhere that Jesus was celibate?...curious.. I should just ask my Mother who is a Minister.. but.. too lazy..

Yeah, I think we're supposed to assume that Jesus didn't have sex. It was implied that he had sexual feelings for Mary Magdalene in Last Tempatation of Christ and it caused a big uproar. We can assume that Jesus didn't bag too many chicks.

I just mentioned this on the Books board, but I just read a long passage from James Joyce's Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man in which he gives a frightening glimpse at what hell may be like. If that don't put the fear of God in you, nothing will.

You know what God did for me? He made none of my dreams come true. I'm going to try doing things without God from now on.

Wait a minute. How do we know it would have been necessary to invent him? It's hypothetical. Since God already exists or has been already invented, we can't possible have a theory that it would be necessary to do what we've already done. It makes no sense.

I dont think God makes sense.. its all about faith.. Believing in something you have never seen, heard, or touched..doesnt make sense...Understand what I mean?

But it's all about FAITH. What's wrong with that? If people want to believe in tooth fairies, Santa Claus, or that there is a magical place over the rainbow, that's fine by me.

Did anyone watch "The Search for Jesus" with Peter Jennings the other night? It was quite interesting, to hear various opinions of the bible as history (they talked to several bible scholars). Could have done without the "Godspell"-like approach to the music and camera work, though...

I really liked that it took a scholarly approach to biblical history, like deciphering meanings of particular passages based on the social climate at the time it was written, and not a modern interpretation. Very intriguing.

And I generally believe that Jesus was a convincing individual, but probably not the son of god. I believe in the POSSIBILITY of a god of some sort, but not the ABSOLUTE.
