Since Entertaindom is dead, I figured I would start a new topic instead of posting this item in the Entertaindom thread.

WB Online signed a deal with www.heavy.com to air some of their programming in the WB Online originals area. So it would appear that WB is still moving forward with original content.

Nice to see another couple guys in their basements sign a deal with a major. It's encouraging that there are still deals to be made in online entertainment.

Warner Bros. is encouraging fans to celebrate the birthday of fictional wizard-child Harry Potter. The studio has set up an electronic birthday card on its Web site for the upcoming movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," based on the first of the best-selling children's books by J.K. Rowling. Potter, known as the "Boy Who Lived" because he survived a deadly attack by the wicked warlock Lord Voldemort, was born on July 31, according to the books. The "CBS Early Show" plans to televise a birthday party in New York City, with a Harry Potter look-alike contest, balloons, cake and a six-foot birthday card. Harry Potter is 11 years old in the first book and 14 years old by the fourth and latest installment, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." The Warner Bros. film is scheduled to open Nov. 16.

Warner Bros pushes Looney Tunes site on AOL
By Dan Williamson, London, Revolution UK Online, June 19, 2002

Film company Warner Bros International is to promote its recently launched Looney Tunes cartoon site on AOL.

Warner Bros Online plans to develop dedicated Looney Tunes areas on AOL's UK, French, Spanish and Danish portals. The areas will be accessible from AOL’s kids and entertainment sections and link back to www.looneytunes.co.uk.

The film studio will roll out online marketing for the site (www.looneytunes.co.uk) as part of a global push for the brand.

The site features original animation content specifically created for online distribution to UK users, and includes some of Warner Bros’ most popular characters, including Bugs Bunny, Taz and Elmer Fudd. The site will also host Flash-based animated games, character biographies, activity sheets and competitions.

As well as improving the presence of Looney Tunes in search engines, directories and chatrooms via seeding, Warner Bros will offer rich media content and animations to relevant external web sites.

The development of the site is part of Warner Bros International’s strategy of creating localised versions across country territories. As well as the UK, similar Looney Tunes sites have been launched in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Japan.

Jodi Benaim, senior vice president of Warner Bros International new media in Europe, said: “Creating localised versions of Looney Tunes is a key part of our strategy. Since our initial launch in the UK, we have attracted more than a million visitors to the site. We hope to follow this success internationally.”

Warner Bros. is claiming that fans of The Matrix have been downloading copies of the first three Animatrix shorts by the millions on its website www.theanimatrix.com. Nine of the digitally animated films are being produced in advance of the May 15th release of The Matrix Reloaded. All nine are due to be released on DVD on June 3. The first short, "The Second Renaissance Part 1," has been downloaded 3.5 million times since it appeared online last month, the studio said. Most films in the Animatrix series have already appeared in theaters, with the final episode "Final Flight of Osiris" making its debut last March 21.

AOL and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced that the popular AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service will be seamlessly integrated into The Matrix Online, when it debuts later this year, marking the first time that players in a massively multi-player online game can link an existing AIM identity to a new in-game character, creating seamless real-time communication with other Matrix players as well as other AIM buddies-whether inside or outside of The Matrix Online.
